This Thursday, we will celebrate the 56th birthday of our king, Willem-Alexander. The whole country will celebrate this day with him!

Our head office will be closed on Thursday, April 27th. We are happy to be of your service again on April 28th!

Last year we shared a link with a beautiful orange fabric, but this year check out our red, white and blue fabrics via our collection tool. In preparation for this day next year!

Last year we also listed some facts about King's Day, here are some more:

  • King Willem-Alexander is the first male Dutch monarch in 123 years. From Wilhelmina in 1890 to the abdication of Beatrix in 2013, the Netherlands has always had queens. And so we celebrated Queen's Day all that time. Only with King Willem-Alexander did we switch to Kings Day for the first time in history.
  • On King's Day, Willem-Alexander King of The Netherlands and his family, together with other members of the Royal Family, visit a municipality with a central function in the region. The Royal Family joins in the celebration, during which the city and the surrounding places can present themselves. This year it will be in Rotterdam.
  • Our flag has not always been red, white and blue. It used to be orange, white and blue. Why the colour of the flag eventually changed from orange to red is not clear. But it was only in 1937 that the flag was changed to the colours we know today.
