World Cotton Day!
Cotton, the fabric of our lives
Author: Tootal

Did you know? According to the United Nations, “a single tonne of cotton provides year-round employment for 5 people on average, often in some of the most impoverished regions.”

Cotton is one of the most common fabrics in our wardrobes. It is comfortable, hypoallergenic, breathable and durable. At Tootal Fabrics (Holland) B.V. we have more than 4000 items that consist entirely or partly of Cotton!

We also offer a selection of sustainable cotton items, with a GOTS or OCS certificate. Tootal Fabrics (Holland) B.V. is also a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Did you know you can order all our cotton or cotton blend items with BCI credits (BCCU’s)? For more information click here.

The initiative of World Cotton Day was born in 2019, when four cotton producers in sub-Saharan Africa– Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali, known as the Cotton Four -proposed the World Trade Organization a World Cotton Day celebration on October 7.

During 2 consecutive years, the date offered an opportunity to share knowledge and showcase cotton-related activities.

The objective of this global celebration is to raise the visibility of the cotton sector and awareness of the critical role that it plays in economic development, international trade and poverty alleviation.

That is why we would like to bring this day to your attention and celebrate it together!
